Venrez: Sell the Lie

Venerez is a Los Angeles-based hard rock band deriving their name from "the last syllables of the first and last name of the group's singer, Steven Berez". "The band formed while helping me with some work on my house," explains Berez. "Several of the guys working, including Jason Womack, were musicians and the building sessions quickly turned to jams, then the formation of the band." (http://venreztheband.com/bio, 2012).

The band is made up of guitarist Jason "Womack and drummer Ed Davis who played with Juliette Lewis and the Licks, while guitarist Alex Kane is a former member of both Life Sex and Death (LSD) and Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg. Bassist Michael Bradford (a childhood friend of Womack's) rounds out the group". (http://venreztheband.com/bio, 2012).

This is a good rocking album that opens fast and hard with solid riffs like a Fabulous Thunderbirds album. Good solid, straight ahead rock and roll that entertains like it always has with solid drums, power guitar chords, heavy bass, and good vocals. No doubt a great live act that knows how to get their loyal fans to their feet.

The standout tracks include Melting, the title track, Sell the Lie, Messenger, My Only Light, especially the great thunder and lightning sound effects, and of course their cover of Winwood's, Blind Faith classic Can't Find My Way Home.
