Visthia: In Aeternuum Deleti

The Italian band called Visthia has been around the underground scene since 1997. They have released a couple of demos before coming up with their debut Reditus Conscienta back in 2006. Finally in 2011, the European act offers us their sophomore effort.

Most of the times, when one sees a Latin title, a black metal output has to be expected, and it is not different here. According to Encyclopaedia Metallum, the themes Visthia explores are: philosophy, history and psychology. On this 43 minute long album, the Italian horde has recorded a more than decent slab of black metal arts. These guys are well able to create compositions that demonstrate crafty songwriting as well as good musicianship. Not only relying on the fast/furious paces and blast beats, Visthia has injected a good dose of ambience in every single track. The overall vibe here is of an industrial nature, but without being in the noise-only style of industrial music. The samples, keyboards and electronics are there to form a darkened ambience throughout the album, greatly accompanying the as dark black metal tones. You also have varied vocal styles that are ranging from spoken, in their native tongue, to harsher/raspy voices, and the listener will even hear some choirs on "Ut Sibilus Flagelli". Besides the occasional blast beats, we can witness some great pounding drums and electronic percussions. As for the guitar playing, well it is excellent in either the furious tremolo picking leads, melodious clean arpeggios or the great crushing riffs. There are more than a few tracks to mention here such as: "Vos Gloriam Consequi", "Iugum Mei Sceleris" and "Id Vidi Splendere Nocte".

To sum up, what you will get with In Aeternuum Deliti, is simply a very well executed opus of quality European black metal.
