Paradise Inc: Time

Paradise Inc. maybe a band from Brazil and Time maybe their debut album but in all honesty one would not have guessed that this was the case. I guess throughout the years these guys have been paying their dues in one way shape or form, time that has not been wasted, allowing them to master and perfect their trade. This is an album that has all those trademarks of a seriously good melodic hard rock album, which will meet the approval of any AOR aficionado.

Musically the album pampers the needs of the AOR lover, melodic interludes, fine vocals which work perfectly together providing the recipe for a quality album. The approach is hard hitting that is weighted by some stunning guitar work that has both class and balls calling to mind bands such as of House of Lords, Strangeways, Frontline and Jaded Heart.

The band have done well to align themselves with Carsten Schultz (Evidence One, Midnight Club, ex -Domain), something that has really brought depth to the table. The contributions of Paul Logue and Dennis Ward who respectively handled the mixing and mastering cannot be overlooked either as they have really added their talents to the whole proceedings too.

From the album opener Time (Live and Learn) the bar is set high and the band rise to the challenge to continuously deliver song after song. Who's Fooling Who with its commercially toned approach confirms the quality of what's on offer here as does the power ballad I Will Wait. As if this isn't enough the guitar driven Wait and See and two versions of Steel or Stone, one being radio friendly in approach the other acoustic, the latter being the better of the two versions sandwiches Not in Paradise, which for me is a letdown even though it features Doogie White on vocals. It's not a poor song; it's just all that has passed before it is better.

To take it one step further the European version of the album features a bonus track, an acoustic version of Steel or Stone. What more could you ask for? Seek, listen and enjoy. This really is a consistently good album that needs to be checked out.
