Trews, The: Hope & Ruin

Canadian songsters The Trews have released their 4th full length record called Hope & Ruin (The Trews Records). Very much in the vein of Modern Rock acts like Tonic, 3 Doors Down and Train, The Trews are all about the songs and it shows. Their tunes are crafted with hooks and catchy lyrics with just enough rocking involved to give them an edge.

Already owning two Gold Canadian records and ten Top 10 singles, the Toronto area based band have created a very live and raw sounding new record, with 12 new songs ranging from the pulsating "The World, I Know", the rocker "People of the Deer" or the sensitive, lead off single titletrack, "Hope & Ruin" Led by vocalist/guitar/keys player ColinMacDonald, whose passionate vocals are mixed with lavish harmonies and tight production that make this a solid record. Filled with songs of love, hope and heartbreak, Hope & Ruin is a heartfelt Pop-Rock record about the rollercoaster ride of life that should hit home with most listeners.

With a solid Modern Rock sound, The Trews will find a home with Indie PopRock styler's. There is a pure quality to their songs that is for sure, I just wish they had a bit more of a rougher edge and were not quite so polished.That being said, these guys are good at what they do and if you are into the Modern Rock tip, check out The Trews, you'll be glad you did.
