Blaze Bailey (Wolfsbane & Ex- Iron Maiden) celebrates the 15th anniversary of the release of his album Silicon Messiah this year. At this year's SOS Festival in July he'll be playing the whole damn thing live, to kick off this celebration Blaze played to an invited audience of about 20 people in the intimate surroundings of Castle Rock Studios and SoT were there to witness it.

I genuinely cannot believe it's been 15 years since the release of Blaze Bailey's first post- Iron Maiden album Silicon Messiah and to be honest I don't think he can believe it either. The invited audience were treated to an hour long acoustic set from Blaze featuring Chris Appleton (Absolva) on acoustic guitar plus his brother Luke Appleton (Iced Earth) joining him on bass. In a word the set was immense, Blaze is such a passionate soul, who's wonderfully crafted songs form a soundtrack to the colourful, sometimes tragic life of a man who's lived & breathed it. Intertwining anecdotes between the songs which helped us have a better understanding as to why certain songs sound like they do plus they were damn entertaining. Throwing in a few Maiden numbers along the way the set was a well-balanced meticulous affair. Chris Appleton's acoustic guitar flurries were simply stunning, the guy has really embraced the acoustic session vibe and you sometimes forget it's actually an acoustic guitar he's playing. Blaze full of character and passion, throwing himself into the performance ensuring that it kept its metallic edge throughout. With the set coming to an end all too soon the audience left truly entertained and no doubt with the hunger to check out Blaze's back catalogue.
