Concert Reviews Having wowed the Welsh crowd at Hammerfest in the early hours of the morning, Icelandic teenage trio The Vintage Caravan made their first appearance on English soil in Wolverhampton on a bill that also included label mates and headliners Grand Magus.

Already firm favourites here at Sea of Tranquility, TVC launch into the hypotonic swirl of 'Craving' with the energy and enthusiasm that comes with a band on their way up. Frontman Óskar Logi Ágústsson is a blur of whipping hair and maniacal stares, regularly trading places across the cluttered stage with deranged headbanging bassist Alexander Örn Númason. Bare chested drummer Guðjón Reynisson is no less animated, a mass of flailing arms and wide eyed grins. Óskar's vocals are rough around the edges but after a day of press interviews and a late late show at Hammerfest that is perhaps only to be expected; experience will bring the knowledge of how to best look after his voice for the long tours that lie ahead.

Bringing the vibe of the early 70's TVC's psychedelic fuzzed up blues merges with the classic rock trademarks of wailing Les Paul solos and pumped up riffs and they blaze through 'Expand Your Mind', 'Let Me Be' and 'Cocaine Sally' from recently released album Voyage. A set of just thirty five minutes is long enough for many in the crowd to make up their minds and there is an eager swarm to the merchandise stand as TVC bring their set to a close. Next time they return to Wolverhampton, TVC will be headlining venues this size – catch them on the way up.
