March 2014

Robert Plant - The first 5 solo albums
Not the most celebrated era of Plant's solo work with the more recent material having overshadowed it. Some of this has dated quite badly, particularly Shaken N Stirred, but there are some hidden gems amongst the 80's albums. Now And Zen was the first tour where I saw Plant live at a small club in Birmingham and still retains a certain charm

The Cadillac Three - Tennessee Mojo
Saw this three piece in action recently and they went over superbly well. Gritty vocals and a superb dynamic between the trio puts them at the head of the current crop of Southern outlaw country rock

Camel - The Snow Goose
One of those timeless classics that you can never grow tired of. Camel are back out on tour this month and the chance to see this album performed in full is not to be missed

Blackberry Smoke - The Whippoorwill
A real buzz around this band at the moment with upgrades to their UK tour venues being necessary after many sold out first time around. This is a really strong album that holds up to repeated listening

Sweet - Hits
Andy Scott is still touring with a 2014 version of Sweet and here they have re-recorded all of the 70's glitzy hits for specialist label Angel Air

Fake Club - Fuckable
Feisty all girl hard hitting quintet with a subtlety titled debut album that proves they have the songs to match the image

Gigs Usual slow start to the year in January and February before the gig diary really starts to fill up over the coming weeks; Blackberry Smoke, Bonafide, Camel and the Hard Rock Hell AOR & Prog festivals are all on the horizon
