Carubine: Futuredream

Carubine are a Psychedelic Trio that hails from the mighty Stockholm, Sweden that embodies the darkness and gloom of 70's Hard Rock and Prog on their new record, Futuredream (Dead End Exit Records). Fans of bands like Pink Floyd to Soundgarden and Queens of The Stone Age should find Carubine right up their alley, with their heavy sludge and atmospheric interludes.

Futuredream is a 7 track record that is the band's first full length release and is full of slow and methodical guitar riffing, as well as, thick and thunderous rhythms that sound like they were conceived in 1974. With songs from 4 minutes to over 10 minutes in length, Carubine makes sure that they take their time delivering their Stoner induced heavy and dark Rock to the masses. Songs like, "New Low" and "Hades" are thick and haunting and cry out for your attention, while at the same time having a detached and cold character to them. In other words, these songs have some depth to them and are felt, not just listened to.

With one foot in the 70's and another in Stoner/Psychedelia, doom and gloom fans of that era should really dig Carubine. Also fans of the gone era of Grunge will also be right at home with this great Swedish trio, with album closer, "Scream" and finds singer/bass player, Alex Gatica, channelling his inner Chris Cornell with this great record closer. Another really good Swedish band that doesn't disappoint. What is in that Swedish water anyways?

Alex Gatica (bass, vocals)

Robin Kulbay (drums)
