Deadsoil: The Venom Divine

The last time that the food disposal at my pad got clogged I decided to stick my head into the drain to see what was the matter and lo and behold if the sunavagun didn't start up again right then an' there. Shoot. What's that got to do with Deadsoil, you ask? Well, very little other than the sensation one gets when tracking through The Venom Divine is equally memorable for its sudden and swift brutality, its dynamic power and scorched earth zeal and zing.

Of course before you get all caught up thinking that this is a typical hardcore band, you should probably take two giant steps back (of the kind you gotta take at a show when some poor sod's get the air smooshed right outta him) and think again. There's all kinds of dynamics, plenty of melodic layers going on and power to the nth degree, of the rare kind possessed by the likes of the Haunted and ye olde At The Gates. (OK, OK, neither one of those is exactly a hardcore band. Ya' got me.)

Anyway, this is a good point of departure into the upcoming fall season and into the future of metal. How the heck'd these kids get those guitars and drums to sound so right powerful. Dunno, but I likes it. (I'm in love with "The Absolute Never," dear reader, it's a creepy little dab of sonic theater that you hear too little of these days.)
