Castle: Under Siege

Ready for some classic metal? If so, then make sure you grab yourself a copy of Under Siege, the third album from San Francisco metal act Castle. This trio takes inspiration from not only classic hard rock/metal acts like Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, Mercyful Fate, and Judas Priest, but also the NWOBHM scene, giving these 8 songs a dark and lean sound driven by tight rhythms, big guitar riffs, and the soaring vocals of bassist Liz Blackwell. Just check her out reaching for the heavens over Mat Davis' cunning riffs on the heavy hitting "A Killing Pace", or stabbing through the tumultuous arrangement of the crushing "Pyramid Lake". She takes a more emotional stance on the moody "Labyrinth of Death", while "Temple of the Lost" is a great Black Sabbath styled doom ripper filled with Davis' crunchy riffing and Blackwell's more menacing delivery.

Prosthetic Records have to be pretty happy with the results they got out of Castle here on Under Siege. This is very solid, old school styled metal that doesn't pretend to be what it isn't, but gets down to business and does it quite well. Headbangers take note!
