Legion Of The Damned: Ravenous Plague

You can't deny that over the years we have been treated to what seems to be no end of hook loaded thrash albums, well Ravenous Plague is another thriving with extra aggressive thrash metal yet still incorporating a style that's ultra catchy. Those responsible for this recording are the European group Legion Of The Damned, Maurice Swinkel's snarling vocals suit that intensity while guitarist Twan Van Geel dishes out some of the most inviting heavy riffs on their new album.

To create the introduction for this recording Legion Of The Damned called upon the services of composer Jo Blankenburg, who came back with "The Apocalyptic Surge" a somewhat dramatic epic opener for Ravenous Plaque. Next up it's the Legion's turn to impress delivering a significant wallop with "Howling For Armageddon" as song after song Legion Of The Damned strike like a heavy metal battering ram, placing this band firmly at the heavier end of thrash metal. Drummer Erik Fleuren likes to mix it up as he plays his kit with brawn and speed as needed, I like the way he creates such a powerful foundation for their sound with his vigorous kick drum onslaughts.

A great thrash album's songs always features those addictive head banging sections and Ravenous Plague sure has those in spades. Legion Of The Damned's songs hit hard presenting no mercy on Ravenous Plague, with monster tracks such as "Mountain Wolves under a Crescent Moon" there is more than enough right here to get any thrash metal fan excited.
