A Matter Of Trust by the melodic modern metal group Dark Age is one of those albums where there are many highs, but my main issue with this album is the vocals. I really do prefer their clean inclusions that are thankfully the dominate kind on this album and a very strong attribute that this group has, when compared to those more aggressive additions.
So many bands have this combination now and it's just not as exciting anymore when I hear another group doing the same it just sounds too familiar. I just feel that if Dark Age want to standout they would be better off without them, sticking with the clean style which has enough variation along with that engrossing metal that appears on much of their new recording.
A Matter Of Trust starts out displaying so much promise with "Nero" which is so good it's one of those catchy easily digested melodic tunes that leaves you eager to hear more and "Afterlife" is equally as gripping when Dark Age get it right they truly sound very impressive. Though I am less enthusiastic about "Out Of Time" for that reason mentioned above. The vibrant powerful music of "Fight" won me over and the screaming growls are limited and it's much the same case with "My Saviour".
Overall while it's certainly not without merit you just feel that while A Matter Of Trust is a good release by a capable band it could have been even better.
